UMA is looking for an Accountant to join their tight knit and high performing Royalties team. We support culture through the power of artistry and believe that every team within UMA plays a role in this unique and inspiring company vision. Reporting to the Royalty Controller, and working directly with both Royalties and Finance, this position will involve ensuring the accurate reporting of the artist related financial results in accordance with reporting timetables, artist related contracts and relevant accounting standards and principles and assisting the Finance department with month end processing and ad hoc functions.
The role:
Preparation of all royalty & copyright balance sheet reconciliations Accounting for monthly Royalty expense accruals in P&L across various revenue types. Prepare Licensing Income reconciliation and P&L allocations Posting royalty related adjustment journals Reviewing intercompany royalty and receipts Evaluate Artist commitments on and off balance sheet. Reconciling quarterly royalty interface Prepare Monthly and Quarterly royalty related schedules to Corporate Finance. Preparation and review of 3rd party deal accounting – JVs and distribution deals. Prepare A&R quarterly budget forecasts. Prepare A&R month end reconciliation including spend, recoupment and provisions Manage queries with 3rd parties on the accuracy of statements and other accounting Review interface of intercompany royalty (AIF) invoices and receipts Updating the BW Provision Tool. Review Non-Recoupable A&R and NRA income Preparation of monthly foreign license income analysis Assist with Royalty and artist vendor related queries, processes and reporting Responsibility over month end tasks for Royalties Assist with Artist Audits, internal audits and external audits Documentation of processes and internal controls Preparation and posting of ad hoc journals as required Prepare Annual WHT reconciliation Provide WHT guidance for A&R and Royalty payments Preparation of other tax matters as required Prepare narratives and flowcharts including annual testing per SOX requirements Working with legal and finance teams Ad hoc requests from management About you:
Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance Strong analytical system skills - fully conversant with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word +3 years' experience in an accounting environment/workplace CA/CPA part qualified Systems aptitude (previous experience with SAP advantageous) Strong learning agility and the ability to learn quickly Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, terminology and journal entries Ability to work with multiple stakeholders Proactive and able to take ownership of assigned responsibilities Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail due to high volume of work generated within royalty & finance administration Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. About us:
