Overview:Full-time, 3-year Fixed Term positionSalary Academic Level A ($77,649 - $105,323) or Level B ($110,868 - $131,659) depending on the qualifications and experience + 17% SuperannuationBased at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the UniversityAbout the RoleThis position will be employed as part of the newly awarded ARC Linkage grant, titled "Secure Management of Internet of Things Data for Critical Surveillance," with RMR Process Pty Ltd as the industry partner. This position will primarily be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing sensing, monitoring, and information systems for industry applications. While a PhD degree is not required, this position should have industry experience in integrating sensing, secure networking, data management, and data visualisation systems and a good understanding of industry needs. Extensive publications are not necessary, but a few in reputable venues (e.g., A* conferences/journals) are desirable.About YouEssential criteriaIndustry Experience: Demonstrated industry experience in managing, building, and testing large-scale distributed computing systems (e.g. Edge, IoT, I4.0), evidenced by involvement in several industry projects.Technical Experience: Exposure to Python, JavaScript, Node-Red, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or equivalent; knowledge of AWS and other cloud technologies; knowledge of PostgreSQL, Grafana, and other database and dashboard systems; knowledge of MQTT, OPC UA and other industrial communication protocols; basic electronics and sensor integration.Work Ethic: A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a broader team, including collaboration with industrial partners.Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills suitable for interacting with higher-degree research candidates, staff, and industry partners, coupled with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.Desirable criteriaResearch Experience: Proven research experience in sensor networks or I4.0 systems, demonstrated by a few top-tier publications.
