The Law Society of NSW is Australia's largest and most influential membership association for solicitors.
We're not all lawyers, but we work together to support the legal profession and ensure a just society for all.
We are currently looking for a full time permanent Registration Officer to join our Registry team in early 2024.
About the role This is a high-calibre customer service and administration role that assists with processing and assessing a high volume of applications for licenses and the variation of those licenses for practising solicitors in New South Wales.
What you'll be doing Assessing and processing applications for licenses and applications for the variation of licenses for practising solicitors in New South Wales.
Processing applications for license renewals.
Assisting and liaising with law firms to facilitate payment and allocation of licenses.
Assisting a team of lawyers fulfil statutory obligations relating to the licensing of solicitors in New South Wales.
Data entry and data maintenance for solicitors and law firms.
Attending to incoming phone and email enquiries from staff, solicitors and the public relating to solicitors practising in New South Wales.
General office duties and electronic and paper filing.
Processing financial payments and refunds as required.
About you Previous administration experience required, preferably in a legal/regulatory environment.
Previous customer service experience required.
Previous database management experience / management of information records desirable.
Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and proficiency with e-mail, internet and database applications.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to understand and apply policies and regulations.
Ability to manage competing demands, prioritise work and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders.
Strong organisation, planning and prioritising skills and an ability to plan and organise self to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
Ability to perform a comprehensive range of administrative clerical tasks with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
