Registrar in Paediatric Dentistry part time fixed termThe Royal Children's Hospital's (RCH) Vision is "A world where all kids thrive". RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.
The Role: Part Time Fixed Term Dental Registrar An exciting opportunity exists for a part time, fixed term until [February 2025-August 2025] dynamic Paediatric Dentist to join the department of Dentistry. A Dental Registrar is required to provide inpatient and outpatient dental care to children with a broad range of medical conditions and special needs. They will be expected to provide emergency management of acute dento-alveolar trauma during and after hours. The successful candidate will work with both the senior and junior dental registrars in the paediatric dental outpatient clinic with professional support from Consultant Paediatric Dentists within the Department. This position is designed for paediatric dentists with a special interest in managing patients with complex medical needs, multidisciplinary care and dental trauma.
You will be responsible for: Planning and providing comprehensive dental care to eligible patients in an outpatient setting.Work with junior medical staff members in managing eligible inpatients and outpatients in clinics, wards and under general anesthesia.Coordinate dental care in consultation with the medical or multidisciplinary team where necessary.Participate in continuing education within the RCH and Department and participate in staff meetings.You will have: Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.Proven ability to leading by example in providing the highest quality clinical care to children and young people.Basic degree in Dental Science or international equivalent recognized by AHPRA.Successfully completed a three year Masters or Clinical Doctorate programme in Paediatric Dentistry or international equivalent. Such a training programme is expected to conform to the European or American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry Guidelines.Why work at the RCH?
