Job location Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. Completed in 2017, Ravenhall Correctional Centre (RCC) is a new medium-security men's prison located in Melbourne's west, providing world-class forensic mental health services in Victoria in a purpose-built state of the art facility developed to international best practice standards. We are recruiting to roles across multiple programs at RCC:
The Erskine unit is a subacute mental health unit providing voluntary treatment on a step-up or step-down basis for people in custody experiencing symptoms associated with an acute mental illness.The Moroka Program provides specialist mental health care, treatment and programs to prisoners with repetitive and entrenched complex and challenging behaviours associated with mental illness, predominately personality disorder.  The Tambo Program is a recovery-focused psychosocial rehabilitation and reintegration program for prisoners with mental illness nearing their release from custody. Nursing staff may be rotated throughout the Ravenhall units to assist in building a comprehensive understanding of the service as a whole, to provide professional development of nursing staff and to assist in career development.
About the Role: Deliver evidence-based care in a recovery frameworkEngage constructively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary teams through team meetings, clinical reviews and other meetings, to support the delivery of the best and most appropriate service outcomes, quality improvement initiatives and evaluation activities.Use sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high standard of patient care.Provide comprehensive recovery-orientated assessment and treatment of patients in a custodial setting.Facilitate group programs.Demonstrate leadership through advocacy for recovery-oriented care, the challenging of stigmatising attitudes, and the promotion of nursing within a custodial setting.Duties: Provide comprehensive recovery-orientated assessment and treatment of patients in a custodial setting.Facilitate group programs.Promote and support nursing and the nursing contribution to care with other disciplines, departments and agencies.Demonstrate leadership through advocacy for recovery-oriented care, the challenging of stigmatising attitudes, and the promotion of nursing within a custodial setting.Engage constructively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary teams through team meetings, clinical reviews and other meetings, to support the delivery of the best and most appropriate service outcomes, quality improvement initiatives and evaluation activities.About You: Thorough understanding and demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.Well developed individual leadership skills that incorporate shared values into timely actions.Proven ability to promote safe and effective evidence-based nursing care for mentally ill patients to achieve identified individual/group outcomes.Builds and maintains effective working relationships with staff, multidisciplinary teams and other agencies.What you need: Postgraduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredentialThis position is subject to a Police Check.
