This is a significant milestone as the ACT Government moves towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra's Northside. The current North Canberra Hospital is a level 4 hospital that provides a range of acute and sub-acute services including community-based care to the residents of the northside of Canberra and Southern NSW. North Canberra Hospital (NCH) is a 270 public hospital located in Canberra's expanding northside. North Canberra Hospital operates a 24-hour Emergency Department. Inpatient services include general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health and critical care.
Other service modalities include day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home and the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation service that reaches into aged care facilities across the ACT. The new Northside Hospital will be built on the existing Calvary Hospital campus in Bruce. It will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors and its workforce and will provide more beds and increased services. Until then, it's business as usual at the NCH, and we'll keep providing high-quality care to our patients and community.
About the role: North Canberra Hospital's Hospital in the Home (HITH) Service is an inpatient service providing access to acute healthcare for patients in their home or other suitable location. HITH operates from 0700-2030 seven days per week. Patients admitted to HITH are inpatients of the hospital and would otherwise receive their treatment in a traditional bricks and mortar hospital ward.
The HITH Clinical Development Nurse (CDN) is responsible for providing support to HITH nursing staff to achieve excellence in clinical practice, standards of care and improved patient outcomes. It is expected that the HITH CDN will:
Provide a high level of clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing workforce.Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of HITH principles.Provide clinical support to assist nursing staff with specific aspects of HITH nursing professional development including but not limited to; delivering and facilitating in-services, assisting with professional development of nursing staff, supporting mandatory training.Assist with home visiting, assisting with patient referrals and reviewing patients within the HITH clinic.The HITH CDN will provide input into and form an integral component of the HITH MDT. The HITH CDN will undertake their own professional development and actively participate in quality initiatives.
Note: This is a part-time position (32:00) and the salary noted above will be pro-rata.
