About You: Dynamic, high performing individual with great communication and consultant coordination skills. Tertiary qualifications in Architecture. Min 3-5 years industry related experience as a Principal Consultant. Position Summary: The role of Senior Architect/Principal Consultant is a senior position within the Aspect group. The role encompasses a broad range of activities including Architectural Design, Project Management, and Consultant coordination.
As a Senior team member, you will be involved in formulating initial client briefs, project programming and planning, conceptual design through to full construction documentation, consultant coordination, and site reviews. This role is key in maintaining and building relationships with clients and contractors, as well as professionally managing and coordinating efficiencies surrounding both internal and external documentation suites and project deliverables.
Key Requirements: An ability to translate the design requirements of the project. An ability to negotiate with the design team, matters of critical or technical importance which may influence the creative direction. Ability to work through technical design issues with consultants to find cost-effective solutions for our clients. Excellent client and consultant management skills. Project Directorship and mentoring of staff with the ability to communicate effectively. An understanding of the requirements to design a building to suit a particular purpose. Understanding of history, and cultural and environmental concerns. Proficiency in Computer Aided Design and Drafting with at least a full understanding of AutoCAD and Revit for 3D modelling. Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office. Job Responsibilities: Project Coordination: Meeting(s) and/or correspondence with the consultant team. Meeting(s) and/or correspondence with the Client and/or their representatives. Minimize duplication and/or rework of documentation suites. Review Team Member Work: Cross check team member work against instructions. Sign off documentation and QA checks before issuing out of Office. Project Management Conduit: Communicate and work directly between the Design and Project Management teams to streamline expectations and deliverables. Design & Construct Coordinator: Structure efficiencies in documentation suites needed for deemed competent site professionals to deliver their required objectives. Act as the conduit between Contractors key person to manage expectations and deliverables. Minimize Duplication of Standards and Codes. Work with management to obtain a client brief: Determine the type, style, and size of the building or the space within the building that is to be designed, built, and/or refurbished. Organization of the planning process: Designs, materials, building times, and cost estimates. Experience in Project Leadership: Proficient in dealing with outside contractors and consultants. Capabilities in Commercial Projects: Including Architectural Design, Detailing, and Documentation. Regular Reports to Executives: On Productivity & Availability. Liaison with Executives: On training needs. Mentor the Team: Lead the team by example (i.e., alignment with key behaviours). Guide the team to bring out the best in everyone. Commit to a set time for weekly training to improve and encourage design skills & knowledge (e.g., Revit Training).
