It is an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. To do this we are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Regional Tennis Manager to join our team and translate our national tennis strategy into a plan that ensures the holistic health of the game at a local level for the Melbourne Metro area.
Reporting to the Head of Tennis Development, in this role you will partner with our key stakeholders (clubs, local government, associations/competition providers and schools) and develop proposals for business improvements which will deliver best in class playing opportunities. You will lead a team who will be accountable for engaging our partners at a local level, ensuring quality delivery of the agreed plan, ultimately growing participation, diversifying our playing base, optimising tennis facilities and building digital capability in the region.
In this role you will:
Generate strategic plans for new and existing venues to ensure tennis has a sustained footprint in the region
Build relationships with key decision makers to influence the desired outcomes for the regional plan
Ensure all decisions in the region are aligned to the national priorities and in the best interest of the sport, building strong engagement with tennis products and programs
Empower clubs with relevant tools including programs, resources, digital products and marketing plans to execute the regional plan
Provide leadership and development for your team, ensuring the right capabilities are in place to deliver the region’s long term plan
Develop a workforce plan which includes education and training to future proof the delivery chain of tennis participants from school into the community
What you will bring to the role:Proven experience in commercial business development
Achievement of sustainable growth through maximising partnerships in order to drive mutually beneficial outcomes
Demonstrated understanding of sports administration, ideally gleaned through volunteer experience in club or association level community sport
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
A love of the sport and a strong desire to contribute significantly to the growth of tennis
Introductory coaching qualification and/or relevant sporting officiating qualification is desirable
Tertiary degree in a relevant field is desirable
