The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is committed to promoting biodiversity and conservation to enrich people’s lives, through sustainable management of Western Australia’s species, ecosystems, lands and the attractions in the department’s care.
Similar appointments may be made from this process in locations throughout Western Australia within a -month period to positions that may be permanent or contract, including contract appointments with the possibility of subsequent permanency.

Job Description
Under the general direction of the Regional Leader Joint Management:
Engages with staff across the region to ensure consistent, effective and meaningful engagement with existing and prospective joint management partners.

Contributes to region-wide engagement with the traditional owner community and ensures the management aspirations of Joint Management Bodies (JMB)s are actioned and facilitated.

Facilitates on country trips, workshops, and joint activities to support the developing and existing Joint Management Agreements (JMA)s with traditional owners.

Contributes to assessing policy gaps and the development of guidelines and standards for joint management and traditional owner engagement.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five () criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five () pages in total.
Evidence of good interpersonal and oral communication skills and considerable experience in liaising effectively and successfully with internal groups and external organisations, including Aboriginal people, other government agencies, community and special interest groups.

Experience with working with traditional owners in support of the protection and conservation of their heritage and culture in a joint management setting.

Evidence of ability and experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and independently and be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised in remote locations.

Sound knowledge and experience in project management, implementation and evaluation within agreed timeframes, with a particular emphasis on logistics, planning and delivery of projects preferably field trips in remote areas.

Experience in natural resource management, including land management and planning; with a preference for someone with knowledge of the Kimberley region’s natural environment and an understanding of the biodiversity issues affecting tropical northern Australia.
Note:The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than months) and satisfactoryNational Police Checkprior to commencement.
