About the Role This role supports the planning and coordination of activities related to Aboriginal Culture and Healing Recovery programs within the Loddon Mallee region.
Some of your duties will include:
Engaging with Aboriginal communities in disaster-affected areas to understand impacts and consequences and provide support and referrals to grants and programs to improve the wellbeing of Aboriginal communities.Collaborating with delivery partners and stakeholders to identify and define issues, develop and prioritise initiatives, and proactively understand and mitigate risks to meet the needs of Aboriginal communities affected by disasters.Evaluating and critically analysing complex and sensitive issues that are linked to Aboriginal Community recovery concerns.Providing timely, expert advice to the Director, Regional Recovery to address and manage concerns affecting recovery program outcomes that enable evidence-based decision making and developing logical, practical, and well-balanced solutions.Supporting the South West team to implement the Strategy for Aboriginal Community-led Recovery.About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.An understanding of the Victorian Traditional Owner framework and Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations networks and their relationship to Government.Qualifications related to policy, emergency management or management highly desirable.Experience in disaster recovery is desirable.A Victorian Driver's Licence and ability to travel as required is a requirement of this role.Applicants are welcome to utilise support from the Aboriginal Employment Team throughout the recruitment process.
