The Opportunity
As the Lead Cyber Security Risk Analyst at Western Sydney University, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the University's approach to managing ICT security risks.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing risk assessment processes that provide an accurate, up-to-date view of the University's security landscape, ensuring alignment with emerging cyber threats and trends.
Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across the University, other institutions, government bodies, and industry partners, you will help drive a forward-thinking approach to cyber security that enables timely, informed business decisions.
Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding ICT system owners, cybersecurity stakeholders, and project teams on security risks and strategies.
You will also coordinate certification and accreditation activities, contributing to policy development and the continual improvement of the University's ICT security posture.
This is a leadership role where you will manage a team, ensuring that priorities are met and workflows are effectively managed to deliver high-quality outcomes.
About You
You are an experienced Cyber Security Risk Analyst with substantial expertise in risk management, security frameworks, and stakeholder engagement.
Your qualifications, preferably at a postgraduate level, along with your deep understanding of frameworks such as NIST, MITRE, ISO 27001, and the Essential Eight, will be essential in helping you succeed in this role.
You will have a proven ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with a strong focus on practical application of security policies and procedures.
With demonstrated leadership experience, you will be able to guide and mentor a team, driving effective risk management and continuous improvement in security processes.
Your ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influence senior executives, and lead security initiatives will be key to your success.
A background in interpreting and applying government security policies such as the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and Defence Industry Security Program will also be highly advantageous.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 9 $155,690 to $166,265 p.a. (comprising Salary of $131,560 to $140,496 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
