We have psychologist positions available across levels AE5 (APS5 equivalent) through AEE2 (EL2 equivalent) and will establish merit pools to fill future vacancies as they become available.Role responsibilitiesPsychologists deliver a range of psychological services within ASIO. Irrespective of your level, some domestic travel may be required. Normally, you will commence in one of the following roles:Employee support (counselling, assessment, psychoeducation, brief interventions)Security vetting (assessments for suitability to hold a high-level security clearance)Recruitment and selection (refine and deliver psychological components of selection)Internal security support (clearance reviews, trainee support, internal selection and allocation)Your role at the AE5 (APS5 equivalent) and AE6 (APS6 equivalent) levels may include:Performing a range of psychological assessmentsProviding psychological advice to the organisation in support of recruitment and managementProviding counselling and brief interventions to staffSupporting the development and delivery of trainingBuilding and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholdersProviding other services and specialist input to the organisation on psychological issuesUndertaking research and project workYour role at the AEE1 (EL1 equivalent) and AEE2 (EL2 Equivalent) level may include these additional tasks:Identifying and forecasting organisational trends and recommending psychological responsesImplementing and supporting policy changeProviding advice on the management of individuals in support of security requirementsOverseeing the delivery of psychological advice and supportDriving the development and delivery of training programsPromoting psychology with stakeholders in support of business outcomesProposing/designing behavioural science research and projectsEssential QualificationsAll candidates must hold:General registration (unconditional) with the Psychology Board of AustraliaA master's degree or equivalent in Clinical, Forensic or Organisational PsychologyIn addition, the following levels must have:AE6 (APS6 equivalent): at least 2 years of post-registration experienceAEE1 (EL1 equivalent): at least 5 years of post-registration experienceAEE2 (EL2 equivalent): at least 8 years of post-registration experienceBenefitsASIO provides a number of benefits to its staff including:A competitive salary, including a 7.5% allowance for maintaining a Top Secret security clearance at the highest levelEmployer superannuation contributions of 15.4%A variety of leave options, including four weeks annual leaveFlexible working hours/arrangements to assist you to maintain your work-life balance (please note: due to our unique working environment, work from home options may not be available)Seven staff-led diversity and inclusion networksStudy assistance, including financial support and study leave for tertiary educationAccess to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Key attributesWe invite applications from people with the following attributes:Experience in conducting psychological assessments using case formulation methodologyTraining and experience in clinical or organisational assessment and interventionAbility to provide psychological opinion and advice to support organisation decision-makingKnowledge, skills, and experience in effectively managing staffStrong ethical boundaries and well-developed problem-solving skillsInterpersonal competence and effective communication skills - both verbal and writtenDemonstrated ability to work well in teamsEligibilityTo be eligible for the role, you must be:an Australian citizenassessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Top Secret security clearance at the highest levelLocationCanberra is the preferred location for these positions with limited opportunities in Melbourne and Sydney, which are considered on a case-by-case basis.
