Safer correctional environmentsHumane management of prisoners and offendersPartnering and community collaborationStop crimeThe Psychological Services Unit serves under the Specialist Operations Branch of QCS, providing specialist support to psychological services staff operating within correctional centres through the provision of clinical and practice advice, professional development activities, and governance oversight.
LOCATION: Southern Queensland Correctional Centre is based in Gatton, where we serve as the primary placement centre for women in Southeast Queensland.
The centre employs a gender-responsive and trauma-informed approach to rehabilitation and management of women in custody.
Psychologists working at the centre will have capacity to undertake assessments, conduct intervention and engage in case management.
The centre consists of a supportive multidisciplinary team who work closely together to support improvements to mental health and positive rehabilitative outcomes.
For provisional psychologists, the centre will provide support towards the completion of internship requirements and supervision.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE: Specialised Expertise: Proven skills in evidence-based assessment and intervention for adults facing challenges such as suicidality, mental health issues, cognitive impairments, or developmental disorders.Strong Communication: Exceptional written communication abilities to produce high-quality professional reports and case notes, along with outstanding verbal skills to engage effectively with a diverse client group.Legislative Knowledge: In-depth understanding of, and ability to interpret and apply, relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.Commitment to Excellence: A passion for continuous learning and professional development, with a dedication to applying best practices in forensic and clinical psychology.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Eligible for registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).If eligible for registration as Provisional Psychologist, must be either currently on the 4+2 internship pathway, or have completed an APAC accredited 5th year degree in psychology and eligible for 5+1 internship pathway.For a confidential discussion please don't hesitate to call or email.
