What You'll be doing: The Psychologist role is an integral part of the Mental Health Services program within the NSW RFS which includes Senior Psychologists, Psychologists, a Peer Support Program Coordinator, and Peer Support Officers.
The Senior Psychologist and Psychologist positions deliver state-wide and area-based mental health prevention, promotion, intervention and recovery services to RFS staff and volunteers as well as support and guidance to RFS leadership and peer personnel.
The role will require participation in a rotating on-call after-hours roster, ensuring that our team always has access to the care they need, whenever they need it.
The Psychologist provides confidential psychological services to RFS members, including clinical assessment, intervention, and referral options and delivering Psychological First-Aid (PFA) for work-related trauma.
They work collaboratively with the Peer Support Officer (PSO) Program, and assist in the provision of psychoeducation and training to promote mental health awareness and management.
To thrive in this role, you will need to:
Work as an effective team member within a multi-disciplinary teamProvide trauma-informed psychological assessment and interventions for people experiencing mental health concernsProvide psychoeducation and/or mental health and wellbeing content in a group settingHave a genuine appreciation and understanding of a volunteer-based emergency serviceTalent pool locations: Glendenning, Cameron Park, Albury, Batemans Bay, Coffs Harbour, Cowra, Tamworth
