Queensland Police Service – Rockhampton QLD You will provide professional prosecution services, including the provision of legal advice to members of the Service on matters before the Magistrates, Childrens and Coroners Courts.
Rockhampton Police Prosecution Corps is a medium sized establishment with a combination of both sworn and civilian prosecutors, supported by administration staff. Prosecutors are responsible for police related matters in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court District in addition to servicing Magistrates Courts at Yeppoon, Woorabinda and Biloela.
This position offers a broad level of experience across all Magistrates Court criminal matters, providing a depth of skill and expertise in the field of prosecuting.
Your key accountabilities Provide a prosecution service for the area of responsibility. Monitor the provision of briefs of evidence by police for use in summary trials and for committal proceedings to ensure the highest quality of briefs is maintained. Liaise, consult and negotiate with members of the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies and the community towards the establishment of effective working relationships and achievement of desired policing outcomes. Take a lead role in the development and provision of quality legal research, argument, submissions, opinion and advice. Manage resources in accordance with Service policy to achieve efficient operations for the area of responsibility. Establish and model maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities. May include coordination activities for Specialist Courts and diversionary initiatives as directed by the Superintendent. Role Requirements Mandatory Admission as, eligibility for immediate admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
