The Role
The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is a historic and transformative endeavour for Australia.
The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.

The duties of an APS 5 Project Officer in ASA include the following:
Accountable to contribute to the development and maintenance of project planning and performance processes in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.
Assist with preparations for project test, evaluation and acceptance programs.
Apply project management methodologies to administrative and technical activities.
Research, draft and prepare briefs, correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration.
Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
The duties of an APS 5 Policy Officer in ASA include the following:
Participate as a member of a team in the development, advocacy, prioritisation implementation and review of ASA's strategic policies (domestic and international) to enhance Australia's national interests.
Prepare complex policy advice and correspondence on a range of broader strategic and international issues and provide editing and quality assurance checks.
Review issues relating to ASA and strategic policies and draft briefing materials, policy and planning documents, reports, ministerial correspondence and other relevant documents.
Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
Help manage administrative arrangements of divisional representation at senior departmental or interdepartmental committees and international meetings.

An APS5 Project Support Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
They will interpret and provide advice within the Project Control function based on legislation, policy and procedures.
They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and administrative support work to achieve results.

An APS5 Policy Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
They will interpret and provide advice within ASA's strategic policy function based on legislation, policy and procedures.
They will undertake targeted research and analysis, and support the development of policy advice to key stakeholders as it relates to ASA's domestic and international policy priorities and international engagement activities.
More broadly, they will perform a range of functions to help facilitate program delivery and achieve results.
