**Project Officer AO5 Role**
**Position Requirements & Expectations**:
- Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week
- The role involves travel to coastal regions of Queensland, including the Gulf of Carpentaria
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of the Independent Onboard Monitoring (IOM) program for gillnet fisheries
- Manage communications and engagement with commercial fishing stakeholders, camera suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Work closely with the IOM Manager and Principal Project Officer to align priorities and track progress
- Develop and maintain efficient processes, procedures, and documentation to support program improvements
- Supervise staff responsible for reviewing onboard camera footage and validating commercial fishing logbooks, ensuring robust Quality Assurance (QA) processes
- Provide technical support and strategic advice on onboard camera equipment installations to meet program objectives
- Coordinate and contribute to the establishment and implementation of a small boat camera trial across gillnet fishing vessels in the Gulf of Carpentaria and along the Queensland east coast
- Ensure data quality assurance and control processes are upheld
- Work with the data team on database management, data entry, and automated reporting processes for the IOM program
- Assist with contract management for camera systems, including procurement of hardware/software, troubleshooting, warranty claims, and inventory management
- Manage accounts and access to secure web-based platforms and servers to ensure data security
- Collaborate with IT professionals on network management and security protocols to meet project milestones
- Engage with in-house technical specialists to explore and test hardware and software solutions
**Highly Desirable**:
- Experience with onboard monitoring equipment
- Experience working with Queensland's commercial fishing industry
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Current Queensland Driver's Licence
**Term of Engagement**:
- The department is currently seeking contract engagement for up to 12 months
