Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) to oversee the end-to-end delivery of VPPs projects, from design to implementation. This role will focus on managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder relationships while ensuring that projects align with regulatory requirements and the organisation's overall strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of VPPs projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
Lead cross-functional teams to deliver VPPs initiatives on time and within budget.
Oversee design, development, and integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into VPPs systems.
Ensure project compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and technical teams to resolve challenges and optimise performance.
Liaise with external stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely resolution of any issues.
Conduct regular project status reviews and report progress to senior management.
Drive continuous improvement in VPPs processes, tools, and best practices.
Support business development teams in identifying new VPPs opportunities.
Maintain a focus on customer experience, reliability, and scalability of VPPs systems.
Contribute to the development of innovative energy solutions and grid integration strategies.
Provide input into the development of contracts, project agreements, and technical specifications.
Lead post-project evaluations and apply lessons learned to future projects.
Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, project management, or a related field.
5+ years' experience in project management, ideally within the energy or renewable energy sector.
Demonstrated experience managing Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) or Distributed Energy Resource (DER) projects.
Strong knowledge of energy markets, renewable energy technologies, and grid integration.
Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Experience with project management software tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovation and improvement.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to energy and electricity markets in Australia.
PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be highly regarded.
