Who we are In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life. As caretakers for Melbourne's water cycle, we care for water, life, and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity. Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra—we're there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world's cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for over 130 years. If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what's right, you're in the right place.
About the Role We are currently looking for three full-time Project Managers based out of Brooklyn, Croydon, and Healesville and one 12-month fixed term Project Manager based out of Bangholme within our Minor Capital Works Delivery teams. Reporting to the Area Lead – Minor Capital, this is a pivotal role within the broader Service Delivery team delivering environmentally driven outcomes on our Waterways and within our Catchment areas. As the Project Manager you will be responsible for safely delivering high-quality natural resource management and civil projects on time and within budget. This will be achieved through:
Developing project estimates, tender documentation, and completing tender evaluations whilst working closely with the Design and Estimation team.
Development and maintenance of project documentation including Project Proposals and Project Management Plans.
Strong focus on safety, quality, forecasting, budget management, and resourcing requirements through standard procurement practices.
Management of project lifecycle, covering scoping, planning, execution, and closure.
Ownership of the implementation of safety and risk controls as identified in Project Management Plans and Site Hazard Risk Assessments.
Site supervision and record keeping, including systems such as Control of Work Field Assurance.
Maintaining regular communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong project management capabilities and experience.
Knowledge of civil engineering and natural resource management disciplines.
Experience working with service providers and crews.
Awareness of environmental and cultural heritage values found in and around waterways.
Experienced in exercising a high level of independence and decision making.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence effectively.
Delegation and empowerment, including holding others accountable.
A degree or diploma in natural resource management, engineering, or related discipline.
Knowledge of project management practices within the Victorian Water Sector is beneficial.
