The Role Are you an experienced Project Manager with an interest in infrastructure?Do you want to be a key contributor to Australia's Defence maritime capability?The Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group is currently seeking three APS 6 Project Managers within the Infrastructure Directorate.
Two positions are located at Sydney NSW, and one in Canberra (Russell) ACT.
The three project manager positions will each have slightly different focuses:
Two positions will have a focus on project planning assurance, governance and performance;One position with a focus on project controls, coordination and administration.The Project Managers are accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex project work within an integrated workforce.
Duties will include: Provide input into the development of project planning, performance, cost and schedule documents and work breakdown structures in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.Project controls management – risk, cost, schedule, resources etc.Analyse project performance against agreed plans, and develop and initiate strategies to achieve project outcomes.Prepare correspondence, briefs and reports including submissions and documents for higher delegate and committee consideration in accordance with organisational requirements.Manage a range of project activities and coordinate project inputs in accordance with organisational practices, methods and standards appropriate to the complexity of the project.Assist in developing governance and assurance frameworks, monitoring compliance, and coordinating project governance meetings.Analyse and ensure compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.Apply established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies.Identify risks and opportunities and take account of these in planning, decision-making and priority setting.Build and sustain key stakeholder relationships.Resolve issues by identifying and developing ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action and their implications.About our Team A Program Management Office is currently being established within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) for the Infrastructure Directorate to deliver Defence's large vessel infrastructure mega-project, within the Henderson Consolidation Program at Henderson, WA.
The Infrastructure Directorate supports portfolio level decision-making and provides a consistent approach to the management of shipbuilding and sustainment infrastructure, by optimising usage of current assets, analysing future demand against planned capability and capacity, sponsoring required enhancements, and maintaining effective stakeholder engagement across Defence, Industry, and State and Territory Governments.
The Directorate works very closely with key stakeholders within Defence, with external Commonwealth and State agencies, and with contract organisations.
