Headquartered in London, and with centres of excellence in Belgium, Japan, Taiwan and the US, our team of more than 300 renewable and energy industry experts combines global knowhow and experience with the local expertise and knowledge necessary to deliver successful projects.The role will be based in Melbourne and will require frequent collaboration with the JERA Group Headquarters in Japan, the JERA Nex Headquarters in the UK and Parkwind Headquarters in Belgium.As a member of the foundation team, you will be collecting, analyzing, and interpreting soil data for our future Australian offshore wind projects. You are responsible for scoping, procuring, and following up geophysical and geotechnical site investigations, as well as building up ground models and advising on site characterization strategy and site layout. Furthermore, you will provide expertise regarding geophysical and seismic soil investigation techniques and interpretation of the collected data.What You Will Be DoingPerform and/or review geological desktop studies.Develop, review, and maintain ground models during the offshore windfarm lifecycle.Identify the soil-related risks during early planning, design and installation of wind turbine foundations, cables and offshore high voltage station foundations.Review and create Employer Requirements for non-destructive soil survey techniques and participate in continuously improving our internal knowledge build-up.Select geoscience consultants and survey companies.Prepare scopes and specifications and review tender documents.Follow up on the different tenders issued for site investigations.Review the contractor's assumptions and documents to ensure compliance with the employer's requirements.Participate in the supplier selection process.Survey follow-up.Interface with the offshore client representative and/or contractor's project manager.Oversee the timely delivery of the surveys and reports.Follow up and comment on the documents from the appointed contractors.Together with geotechnical engineers, interpret soil characteristics and advise on the soil-substructure interactions.Keep track of and implement lessons learned.You will be reporting to the Foundation Package Manager.What You Will HaveMaster's degree in engineering, marine geology, applied geophysics or a related discipline.Strong background in marine geophysics.3+ years of experience in offshore wind and 5+ years of experience with geo-surveys.Knowledge of GIS software (QGIS).Affinity with geotechnical engineering and foundation design is a plus.Ability to work independently and possess a problem-solving attitude.Driven, pragmatic and solution-oriented.Hands-on mentality.Team player with necessary communication skills.Ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales.Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is highly appreciated.What We OfferStart-up and entrepreneurial environment in a company that is part of a larger, well-funded firm, that has long-term ambition to contribute to global decarbonization.Opportunity to define your workplace.
