This is driven by our growing and ageing population, and compounded by pressures on primary, aged and disability care.To help address this, Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ), in partnership with Hospital and Health Services (HHS), is leading the biggest hospital expansion program Queensland has ever seen.The program includes building three new hospitals, expanding 11, upgrading rural and regional health facilities and delivering thousands of new hospital beds in the next five years.In addition, the intent is for this to be the first tranche of a 15-year program of infrastructure investments.
