to join our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane
office. This leadership role is responsible for the profitability, underwriting, and oversight of Ansvar's Casualty & Financial Lines portfolios across all associated product classes and customer segments, including SME, Mid-Market, and Corporate (Strategic Accounts). The role will focus on setting the underwriting appetite and standards for the Casualty and Financial Lines product offerings and driving underwriting excellence through a comprehensive governance and assurance framework. Key responsibilities Underwriting – appetite, guidelines, and standards Underwriting authority licence and accreditation Product quality & standards Rating / Pricing tools Underwriting governance & assurance Technical expert - including Strategic Client management Build organisation-wide underwriting capability
Knowledge, skills and experience Extensive experience (min. 10+ years) in a technical underwriting role in Casualty and/or Financial Lines Deep knowledge of casualty and financial lines products and exposures Experience in policy drafting in long-tail lines Proven track record in delivering profitable growth in long-tail lines Confident and influential communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels Experience in business/performance report writing Effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment Commercial acumen – decisiveness on critical business issues Willingness to take ownership & accountability; ability to lead, mentor & coach others Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities Responds positively to change; actively seeks feedback on performance Ability to create a positive working environment Passionate about the business and making a difference
