About the role We have an exciting permanent opportunity in our Meat, Deli, & Seafood team for an experienced Product Technologist.
As a Product Technologist you will report into our Senior Product Technologist and work alongside the category teams to ensure the safety, compliance, and ethical sourcing for this category.
You will liaise with a multitude of stakeholders including our category teams, central support teams and supply functions and you will be key to delivering great quality consistent product for our customers every day.
This dynamic role will see you interacting with all levels of the business, including strong relationship building with senior management.
The stakeholders are many and the pace is fast, providing you with the ability to demonstrate your project and stakeholder management skills.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but not limited to: Responsible for the safety, legality, compliance, responsible sourcing, ethical sourcing and repeatable quality of Own Brand products in their portfolio, in accordance with the Own Brand strategy & product plan.
Deliver supplier accountability & performance in safety, legality, compliance, responsible sourcing, ethical sourcing and repeatable quality.
Land new and maintain current products, aligned to technical KPIs, compelling competitive claims, brand guidelines & activity plan, taking prompt action on product and with suppliers to address adverse trends.
Review products to schedule, maintaining agreed quality, equal or better than competitor benchmarks (shared with PD).
Create value by executing brand strategy, product maintenance, quality enhancements, launching newness & creating production and process efficiencies.
About your skills: You'll possess the expertise to work with cross-functional teams to ensure the safety, legality and compliance of Own brand products within Poultry & BBQ.
Your areas of expertise should include: Working knowledge of product development & processes Demonstrated experience working in retail or food service supply base, the retail sector or with retailers in similar categories  Technical subject matter expertise (ideally within the poultry and/or meat space) Strong planning and time management skills Proven experience in supplier management, investigations, audit response & data analysis Influencing skills Experience working with legislation, internal policy & guidelines additional to legislation Bachelor degree in Food Science or a related field i.e.
Science, Microbiology or Chemistry Lead Food Safety / Quality auditing qualification preferred Experienced in working with international & small suppliers to deliver product innovation and essential safety controls, delivering step change innovation and building consumer trust  Please note, applications will close on Sunday December 1st, 2024.
