Senior Embedded Software Engineer / Technical Product Lead - DefenceThe Company: An innovative start up to scale up company leading the way in the provision of autonomous optical search systems in the Search, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance space for Defence, specialising in the design, fabrication, manufacture and distribution of these innovative systems.
About the role: As a Product Lead, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle and delivery of the product, working closely with the CTO to define the product roadmap and collaborating with the customer to create an exceptional product and deliver outstanding customer experience.
You will lead a team of software and AI engineers.
Responsibilities: Write code and conduct code reviewsLead the design and implementation of the productMake architectural decisions to get to a minimum viable product within the next 12 months ensuring software reliabilityOversee the technical software engineering teamLiaise and interface between the customer, technical teams, and internal leadershipWork closely with software engineers to test their assumptions and drive excellenceDefine schedule and resource needs to drive specific delivery requirementsCommunicate the product vision, roadmap, and objectivesControl and update the Bill of MaterialsIdeal Candidate: At least seven years of experience in embedded software programming (C, C++, Rust) on LinuxAt least two years of experience in a technical leadership rolePrevious experience in the full product lifecycle from specification, POC, minimal viable product, testing to deployment, preferably in a start-up to scale-up environmentExceptional stakeholder management and customer engagement experience - C-suite stakeholdersExperience and a passion for AI, image processing, computer vision, robotics (vision or cameras), Machine Learning, electronics, firmware, flight dynamics, remote sensing, or autonomous systemsExperience in the defence (military or munitions) or aeronautical industry is highly desirableYou may be PhD qualified or have strong educational qualifications in Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or PhysicsYou will have the ability to push back and make decisions for effective use of resources, time, and budgetIntellectual curiosity - get to the root of the issues, creative problem solvingYou hold NV1 clearance (or are eligible)This is a fantastic opportunity to make incredible products at the forefront of innovation in Australia and globally.
