Mater is looking for a Privacy Officer to join the team! This permanent, full-time role is based at South Brisbane. This role will receive and action requests for patient information from Healthcare Providers in accordance with Mater policies, procedures, work instructions and relevant legislation.
Salary range: $72,404 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 and access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing You will undertake duties associated with receiving and actioning requests for patient information from patients and authorised third parties, including:
Providing advice to patients and third parties about how to request informationValidating request and release authorisation detailsActioning requests within required timeframesReleasing accurate informationEscalating as appropriate to the Manager Information Privacy OfficeUsing and accessing the required systems to perform the tasks required of the roleIdentifying inefficiencies and inaccuracies in processes associated with information privacy and release of information and discussing with the ManagerIdentifying opportunities for cost savingsEnsuring mandatory competency requirements are currentReporting incidents in a timely mannerIdentifying and reporting workplace health and safety (WHS) concerns to the ManagerMeeting all performance objectives agreed with your Manager, including productivity targets for volume of work completed and quality targets for accuracy of work completedAdhering to policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelines relevant to the positionAbout you You will have experience working within a Health Records Service/Department and a sound knowledge of health record management principles including the format of the health record.
Sound knowledge of the Australian Privacy Principles and understanding of release of information processes and information privacy and confidentiality conceptsKnowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathology and the ability to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information systemsProven ability to function as a team member, maintain confidentiality, work with minimal supervision and be flexible. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy of outputsDemonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills. Experience responding to and meeting customer needs is desirableDemonstrated time management and organisation skills, including the ability to organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlinesExperience using a hospital patient administration system. Ability to competently use Microsoft Office Word and Excel applications together with the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of computer-based applications relevant to the position (i.e. iPM etc)Mater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
