About the role:
The Principal Electrical Engineer - HV will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design of high voltage (HV) substations up to 500kV. This role requires extensive experience in primary and secondary design, protection systems, and will have the ability to manage an overseas design team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design of HV substations, including primary and secondary systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Develop and implement protection schemes for substations, including relay coordination and settings.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Coordinate with project managers to ensure design deliverables are aligned with project schedules and budgets.
Identify and mitigate design risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Prepare and present design reports and updates to stakeholders.
Conduct technical reviews and audits of design work to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate HV designs with overall project requirements.
Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on HV substation design solutions.
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
CPEng or equivalent certification is preferred, or the ability to meet the requirements to obtain such a license.
Many years of detailed experience in HV substation design at a Senior level, including primary and secondary systems.
Proven experience in designing protection schemes and relay coordination for substations up to 500kV.
Experience in leading and managing a design team, preferably with international team management experience.
