Description Purpose of Job: Principal or Senior Water Resources Engineers are involved in the technical delivery of a variety of projects across one or more of the fields of water resources including flood risk and resilience, stormwater design and sustainable stormwater. The role will also involve project management to coordinate a project team and ensure projects are appropriately managed and client requirements are met. The role will involve the application of technical knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modelling, most specifically TUFLOW, to lead modelling efforts and provide review of model outputs. Identify opportunities and develop the service to clients that are in line with Stantec business strategies.
Essential Functions Undertaking and overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of creeks, rivers, stormwater systems and overland flow paths Leading / contributing to flood studies and flood risk management study and plans (FRMS&P) Providing technical input into flood risk management projects and preparing concise and clear technical reports Design of water management systems that interface both surface and pipe networks Preparing expressions of interest and proposals and carry out other appropriate marketing initiatives. Engaging with clients in order to nurture long lasting relationships Sound understanding of project management frameworks, experience in leading project teams, and excellent organisation and time management skills, with a developing to advanced level of financial competency. Strong ability to prioritise tasks and multi-task to ensure deadlines are achieved. Collaboration with designers, environmental scientists, planners and engineers to deliver designs that are innovative, environmentally sensitive and practical Commitment to collaborative and ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment Develop and mentor junior staff. Qualifications Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or related discipline. Between 8 - 20 years experience within the field of water resources engineering, specifically floodplain management. Experience leading / contributing to flood studies and flood risk management study and plans (FRMS&P) Experience providing technical input into flood risk management projects and preparing concise and clear technical reports Specifically, a strong knowledge with the use of TUFLOW 1D/2D modelling Strong ability to prioritise tasks and multi-task to ensure deadlines are achieved.
