Working within the leadership team for the Small Business Delivery unit, the Principal Program Officer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and compliance of key programs, ensuring they align with strategic objectives set by the Department. You'll act in a leadership and mentorship capacity, guiding direct reports to maintain high standards of performance while managing stakeholder relationships and addressing complex issues. In this role, you will provide expert advice on policy and program matters, driving initiatives that build resilience and success for Queensland's small business community. There are two roles available - one permanent and one temporary with the possibility of extension.
About the roleAs the Principal Program Officer, you will:
Lead the delivery of grant programs aligned with the Queensland Small Business Strategy and department priorities to support small business growth.Provide leadership in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs, ensuring compliance with guidelines, timeframes, and budgets.Manage risks in grants administration, focusing on governance, risk management, and compliance.Contribute to the Small Business Strategy by developing and reviewing funding submissions to meet business needs.Offer expert advice and prepare high-level briefings and reports for senior leadership, including the Director-General and Minister.What we are looking forThe position requires an applicant who can:
Provide expert advice on policy and program matters, using grants management knowledge to research, analyse, and evaluate implementation issues.Build and maintain networks, liaising with senior managers and stakeholders from government and non-government sectors to support small business initiatives.Consult and negotiate with stakeholders to develop and implement best practices for grants management, ensuring alignment with national and state standards.Lead and support teams by fostering a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement.How to applyTo apply, please submit the below via the SmartJobs application page:
