The Principal Infrastructure Specialist within the Mainframe Infrastructure Services team is required to lead and support Westpac's complex mainframe environment within their technical expertise.
The role plays an important part in the development and maintenance of technical solutions within the Mainframe and ensures that the detailed design and operations are fit for purpose.
Main role and responsibilities are:
Collaborate with the design team to create necessary design artefacts, including documentation of the existing environment when needed. Act as the mainframe representative in forums requiring a designer or consultant. Oversee the end-to-end design of the mainframe infrastructure, working with both internal and external teams to ensure the production of high-quality, comprehensive documentation. Translate functional and non-functional requirements into a technical infrastructure solution. Ensure adherence to Standards, Policies, and Guidelines. Document and share artefacts as required. Engage in large-scale programs where environments are constantly evolving through merging, decommissioning, and the development of new environments. What do I need?
Relevant IT industry experience working with Mainframes Experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, configuration, and maintenance. A strong mainframe infrastructure understanding is desirable. This includes knowledge of areas such as IMS TM, CICS, MQ, and other mainframe infrastructures. The ability to navigate around the mainframe platform. A good understanding of mainframe capacity is desirable. Keen attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
