Principal Engineer

The Principal Engineer role is technology-focused and outcome-driven, aimed at providing deep technical expertise for the engineering teams to produce a coherent technology platform. This role connects Versent's mission to deliver to customers through technical leadership by being the connector from the engineering team to the delivery stakeholders. Full engineering accountability across architecture, design, and quality control is expected, with the aim of creating solutions that meet customer requirements and adhere to industry and Versent standards. The Principal Engineer is knowledgeable in at least one of Versent's go-to-market domains and is an expert in this space, using this knowledge to shape customer outcomes and approaches to transformation.As a Principal Engineer in Cloud, you will help design, implement, and maintain our cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure for our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge cloud technologies and contribute to the success of our growing projects.On a day-to-day basis, you will play an integral part of our cloud engineering team, responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft Azure solutions for our clients. Your expertise will be critical in designing secure, scalable, and efficient cloud modernization infrastructures that empower our customers.Key Responsibilities:Design and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.Design, elaborate, and build high-quality software and integration workflows using various modern technologies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical expertise in designing cloud-based solutions.Agile Delivery – Work within an Agile scrum, actively contributing to agile ceremonies and leading when required. Accept story allocated and take full ownership from genesis to completion, providing concise and accurate updates to the Principal Consultant, completing the story within the timeframe to agreed specifications.Produce engineering outcomes that meet the team's Ways of Working, including all documentation, unit testing coverage, code quality scores, and acceptance targets. Align with technology frameworks and processes agreed upon by the team that are used within the engagement. Refactor code and manage technical debt only within the delivery budget.Skills Required:Working experience in cloud-native engineering and modern software engineering practices (DevOps, Automated testing, etc.).Proficient in Azure services, including but not limited to Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Azure Active Directory, App Services, Storage Accounts, and Azure Functions.Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or Ansible.Life at Versent:We're a diverse team of motivated individuals who think outside the box and strive to deliver what others might consider impossible.
