About the Role
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll lead the design and development of electrical balance of plant projects, from the initial feasibility stages through to managing external consultants who carry out detailed design, through to construction and operational support. Any experience from a client or operator side will be highly valued; however, all backgrounds in HV design will be considered.
Key Responsibilities

Create cost effective designs for electrical balance of plant systems
Oversee primary electrical systems' concept and design
Develop specifications and scopes for contracts
Identify risks and provide engineering solutions
Mentor and lead the electrical team
Review consultant outputs for compliance
Coordinate with network operators for connection requirements
Support project teams during construction
Advise on design changes and system upgrades

Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Ideally 10+ years in power generation, transmission, or distribution
Expertise in electrical design for substations and underground cables
Knowledge of Australian standards (e.g., AS2067, AS3000)
Experience with engineering specifications and interdisciplinary teams
Chartered Status, NER & RPEQ (preferred)
Experience with grid connections for renewable projects is an advantage
