This position assists the Crown Solicitor in the conduct and management of the business of the Office of the Crown Solicitor by providing high level conveyancing, administrative and associated services, including providing liaison between the Office and Agency officers for matters referred to the Office of the Crown Solicitor.

Duties Provide high level conveyancing services for and on behalf of the State in conveyancing and associated land dealings including:Preparation (including independent drafting in routine matters) of documentation such as contracts and deeds necessary for sale, other transfers of land and acquisitions of land;Preparation (including independent drafting in routine matters) and lodgement of standard form leases and licences, mortgage documentation, subdivision documentation and other documentation including agreements, orders and applications under relevant Tasmanian legislation;Attend to and complete settlement of land transfer dealings, complete compensation matters in compulsory acquisition dealings, and attend to all necessary duty assessments associated with such settlements;Investigate, assess, verify and provide high level advice in relation to ownership and rights over land, including but not limited to untitled land, general law land and real property titles and interests;Prepare, draft, review and clarify correspondence and provide effective practical solutions within an operational framework and specific guidelines, systems and processes;Prepare financial settlement statements and apply complex treatments such as GST treatment, GST at settlement obligations and Foreign Resident Capital Gains Withholding as required;Assist with Homes Tasmania programmes, including affordable homeownership and Long Term purchases, Streets Ahead, Homeshare and MyHome; andUndertake negotiations and consultation relevant to the work performed.Provide administrative support to senior lawyers by investigating and evaluating instructions received, problem solving issues, and collating information.Facilitate new instructions received and respond to Agencies with the status of those instructions, and provide accurate advice and information to Agencies regarding general enquiries.Pre-employment Checks The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
