Role Summary: PSC is seeking an enthusiastic, technically oriented engineer with relevant power systems studies experience to join our Sydney and Brisbane based team.
The candidate's primary expertise should be in power systems analysis and studies that model the behaviour of power systems and their various components under steady state and perturbed conditions.
Essential Responsibilities: The power systems consultant will conduct a variety of assignments under the supervision of Senior or Principal Engineers.
These include: Power system analysis and generator connection feasibility studies Preparation of detailed technical reports Global interaction with PSC colleagues to coordinate and execute studies Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness Minimum Requirements: Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering is required with a preference for a specialisation in power systems Knowledge in power systems analysis in generation, transmission and/or distribution systems using network simulation software, particularly PSSE, PSCAD and/or DIg SILENT Power Factor Knowledge in several of the following areas is desired: Classical power system analysis & modelling including load flow, transient stability, short circuit analysis, and small signal assessments Power generation and transmission studies such as generator connections, voltage stability, feasibility studies, power station and control system design, and network planning Steady state and transient model development, testing, and field validation of the performance of generator control models Preparation of long-term, multi-scenario network development plans Knowledge of grid connection policies, particularly Australian National Electricity Rules (NER) Python programming Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in particular, clear and unambiguous email and technical document writing We: Know that our people are our greatest asset, and we truly celebrate and value people Also celebrate bright ideas, individuality, and autonomy Have an entrepreneurial spirit, embrace new ideas and are always looking to improve Understand that everyone has a personal life and provide an extremely flexible work environment Provide amazing growth and leadership opportunities in an autonomous role Offer competitive compensation, great benefits, and development opportunities We're an equal opportunity employer.
