About the role

We are currently seeking a Portfolio Manager, Private Markets to join our State Investments team based in Brisbane or Sydney. Reporting to the Head of Private Markets Strategy, this role involves active participation in the State Investment team's portfolio management and research program. The main focus lies on delivering strategic and opportunistic investment strategies across real estate, infrastructure, private equity and private debt sectors. This is an exciting and crucial position within the team responsible for ensuring well-diversified and risk-controlled investment solutions for our clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

Undertaking research to prepare and document private market sector strategies, including presenting the outcomes to internal stakeholders, investment committees and clients as needed.

Contributing to research projects and investment due diligence related to existing and new investments across private markets.

Staying informed about international economic and financial market developments, contributing to the wider State Investment portfolio with a focus on private markets.

Collaborating with internal asset management teams at QIC, external managers and within State Investments for research and investment enhancements, ensuring effective communication.

Understanding client needs and preferences, collaborating with senior team members to develop investment recommendations and portfolio solutions across the private markets.

Assisting in the day-to-day portfolio management and oversight of the private market portfolios, becoming a key contact between the team and our investment managers.

Supervising and providing guidance to junior members within the State Investments team, especially within the Private Markets team.Providing input on compliance and risk management of investment managers, bridging the gap between the investment and operational teams.

About You

You will be a strategic thinker who enjoys getting into the detail, as well as being innovative and curious in the way you work. You will also have:

Demonstrated and sound experience across the investment management industry with experience in at least one of real estate, infrastructure, private equity or private debt sector(s).

Understanding of portfolio construction, liquidity modelling and asset allocation.

Ability to undertake portfolio modelling and assist in the calibration of risk systems.

Demonstrated ability to work with junior resources and provide them with on-the-job development and mentoring.

Enthusiasm to understand QIC clients with a view to becoming a client facing role within State Investments.

Excellent communication, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.

Self-motivated, possessing strong quantitative skills and effective time management, adept at meeting multiple deadlines autonomously.
