Details:
The Stakeholder Engagement and Governance team is looking for an ASO6 policy officer to join their team in the Policy Branch, Work Safety Group. Working in the Policy Branch within Work Safety Group, the Stakeholder Engagement and Governance team leads engagement with employer and employee representative stakeholders within the Territory, on issues relating to the ACT's work health and safety, workers' compensation, and industrial relations regulatory frameworks.
The team provides secretariat, governance and appointments support and management for several ACT Government advisory bodies, in particular, the ACT Work Health and Safety Council.
While in this role, you will:
provide secretariat support for relevant committees and other local, national and inter-jurisdictional fora
liaise with stakeholders and clients, both internal and external to ACT Government, and build productive working relationships
represent the ACT Government and the directorate as required
provide advice on policy and program issues related to workplace health, safety, worker's compensation and/or industrial relations
undertake research and analysis to assist with the review, improvement and development of policy and legislation
support the development and implementation of multiple key projects for the Group; and
draft ministerial reports, briefs, submissions and other complex documents for the Government, Ministers and the Directorate.
The successful candidate will:
have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with people across different levels
be a collaborative team player and also able to work autonomously
be organised and solutions focused; and
understand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework.

Eligibility/Other requirements
Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in law, workers' compensation, work health and safety policy and public policy is highly desirable
Coordination and secretariat experience.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is in a workplace designed for activity-based work (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
