Our client is a large state government department who are seeking to engage a Policy Advisor for an initial 12-month contract engagement.
Role responsibilities include:
Manage and coordinate the development and implementation of a range of policy and regulatory initiatives to contribute to the delivery of priorities.
Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks.
Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies and support policy and regulatory initiatives of the Council.
Instruct on the drafting of legislation and regulatory instruments, and provide support to the Council and Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision making.
Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policy and regulatory initiatives to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes.
Mentor and guide more junior staff, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, to deliver policy priorities and regulatory initiatives.
Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with agency requirements, to respond to Council and Commissioner requests.
Assist Policy Managers and team members to ensure Council objectives are achieved.
We are seeking an experienced Policy Advisor with legal qualifications (Bachelor of Laws or equivalent) and sound knowledge of Commonwealth and State law, government functions and the legislative process.
Please note hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.
The incumbent will be required to come into the office minimum one day a week, and more frequently if required based on business need (e.g.
scheduling of meetings etc).
