About the role We are seeking a Peer Worker to support the establishment of the Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC) in Young.
In this role, you will draw from your own lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery to support people accessing the program with their own experience.
This position reports to the Service Manager and offers the opportunity to: Provide immediate intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, using your lived experience to build trust and hope.
Deliver one-on-one and group peer support, advocating for trauma-informed, person-led services.
Contribute to the consumer voice and advocate on their behalf for their individual needs and specific program improvement initiatives Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, high-quality care.

Skills and experience We are looking for someone with: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or commencement or a willingness to work towards qualification within first 6 months of employment).
Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey.
