Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. An exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager has become available. This is a dynamic role with a focus on ensuring that Snowy Hydro employees are paid accurately and on time, every time.
This position will require you to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of work. Experience and proficiency in SuccessFactors and advanced knowledge of payroll processes, concepts, systems, and software is essential to succeed in this position.
Core to the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with all internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for payroll initiatives. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, and a focus on continuous improvement.
This is a pivotal role that can, by mutual agreement, offer flexible working arrangements, as Snowy Hydro appreciates the additional value such arrangements can bring to our business and to our employees. The successful candidate can choose to work primarily from Melbourne, Sydney, or Cooma. Irrespective of primary work location, regular travel to regional offices and assets will be essential to establish key stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities will include: Responsible for the effectiveness of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with all relevant Australian payroll legislation and regulations. Manage and mentor a small team of payroll professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with Superannuation requirements, Payroll Tax, and Personal Income Tax rules, including the preparation of necessary reports and documentation. Utilise SuccessFactors to streamline payroll processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve user experience for employees and management. Actively participate in Enterprise Bargaining Agreement negotiations, reviews, and updates, providing insights and recommendations based on experience, payroll data, and trends along with insights relating to the practicalities of administering EBA outcomes from a Payroll process perspective. Identify opportunities for process enhancements, automation, and efficiencies within the payroll function, implementing best practices and innovative solutions. Serve as a respected payroll subject matter expert, advising management and employees on payroll-related queries and ensuring clear communication of policies and procedures. We're looking for someone with: A Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven track record of managing a payroll function, with a strong focus on Australian payroll legislation and regulations. Demonstrated experience in leading and developing a high-performing team, with strong interpersonal skills to influence and build rapport across a large workforce (>1,000 employees) is essential. Experience in SuccessFactors is essential. Proven ability to contribute to Enterprise Bargaining Agreement negotiations and maintain a collaborative and inclusive approach to stakeholder engagement. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in payroll processing an absolute must have.
