About the role: Assist schools to develop an agreed way forward, in partnership with community, to improve attendance, retention and educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Support schools to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a positive learning environment through productive partnerships with Elders, families, local service providers and businesses for educational opportunities that are respectful and relevant. Work collaboratively with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, specialist and support staff in schools to build genuine partnerships and trust. Contribute to professional learning and activities which promote staff cultural competency and sensitivity to enhance the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Maintain and develop professional learning knowledge, practices and relationships. About you: Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and protocols. Experience communicating effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Management experience working across a region supporting both primary and secondary schools. Collaboration skills and the ability to build trust and form productive relationships, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, specialist and support staff in schools. Ability to provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and the school community. Current drivers licence and ability to travel across our 146 schools. Certificate level/Diploma qualifications or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
