Paralegal - Pathways Program Brisbane

Details of the offer

Launch your career with lawyers who are recognised as the best in the business Join a law firm that prioritises its people and lives its values (yes, really) Secure a path to a graduate position. Your pathway to a career in Australia's largest insurance, dispute resolution + risk management legal business. Missed out on a clerkship? Don't worry, we've got your back!

About us W+K is an international law firm specialising in insurance, risk management and dispute resolution. We work with the world's largest insurers and re-insurers in the global insurance markets, and many of Australia and New Zealand's largest blue-chip corporates, managing large under deductible insurance programs or self-insuring their business risks. But we don't just act for market giants. We also act for individual directors and officers, corporations and organisations facing reputational and other significant risks.

Our "Main Game" involves helping businesses, organisations, and individuals when outcomes are uncertain, and reputations, business viability and people's wellbeing can be at stake. We do everything possible to achieve the best possible outcome, minimise uncertainty and angst for everyone involved and keep insured's relationships with their insurers intact. It's phenomenally interesting work.

Pathways Program 2025 We don't do clerkships. Nobody wants to spend three months of their summer holed away doing discovery! We're currently recruiting law students who are currently in their penultimate year, to join us in 2025 during their final year of law studies as Pathways Paralegal.

Pathways is the best 'apprenticeship' for a litigation career. You'll support a champion team of lawyers, doing real work for real clients across a breadth of industries. You'll receive the valuable skills to put you at the front of the queue for a graduate position and you'll give back through your contribution to our unrivalled pro bono program.

What we're looking for? You've got to want to be a litigator. No point considering us if that's not in your plan. We aim to be the best and to help every lawyer become their best. That means you need to want that too. The pathway to becoming the best takes endless curiosity, a commitment to being a life-long learner and to being the type of person clients, colleagues and peers know they can trust.

We're also looking for people that can encompass our firm values – Focus on the Main Game ; Have Each Other's Back and Be Real . Every day, each of us makes choices about how we act and what we say. Our values serve as a consistent reminder of the high standards we expect of everyone at W+K.

Finally, to be eligible for a Pathways position, you must be:
undertaking the final year of your law degree in 2025 (i.e. must be graduating at the end of 2025); and either a citizen or permanent resident of Australia with full working rights.
