ABRA MINING PTY LTD Abra Mining Pty Limited (Administrator's Appointed) is seeking a Mine Geologist Superintendent for a full-time position with the company based at our Abra Mine.
Abra is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest standalone lead-silver projects capable of producing "Metal in concentrate" of between 90 – 100ktpa lead and 600 – 800kozs silver per year.
The Abra Mineral Resource geologically consists of multiple mineralised zones predominately consisting of an upper over-laying sediment bound Apron zone that sits above an underlying hydrothermal feeder system called the Core zone.
Exceptional rock specimens can be found within the deposit, including carbonate replaced zone with significant jaspilite and barite alteration, and stroma lotic textures.
The most recent LOM plan (1.5Mtpa) based on the MRE2023, grade control model updates and ore mined to date contains 16.3Mt @ 6.9% Pb indicating a mine life of 10+ years.
THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line through to the Geology Manager, the Mine Geologist Superintendent is responsible for building, supervising, and monitoring the mine geology functions to deliver the safe, efficient, and accurate achievement of mine and mill production targets.
The Mine Geologist Superintendent will supervise and develop mine geology personnel and is responsible for establishment and management of suitable data management, grade control, resource estimation and monitoring procedures, as well as integration with short and long term mine planning functions.
You will contribute to the establishment of steady state mining operations and production management systems, including the integration of suitable grade control practices into day-to-day production.
Other key duties of the position include:
Undertake end of month grade and tonnage calculations, including stockpile tracking and mine to mill reconciliation. Track mine geology department costs and ensure delivery on budget and according to forecast targets. Provide analysis of forecast quarterly mine production and costs. Assisting with the development of grade control and underground procedures. Communicate and monitor mine geology department adherence to all company policies, processes, and procedures. Ensure mine geology department compliance with all Company external reporting requirements (including Mines Department, JORC 2012, and ASX). Communicate geological, geotechnical, and grade information to site technical, management, and contract personnel to assist with mine planning and in achieving production targets. Provide monthly reports on the mine geology department including safety, environment, production, reconciliation, and financial performance. Assist with contract tendering and documentation and monitor contractor performance. Liaise with production and mine contractor staff to ensure optimal mining techniques and plans are utilised throughout the mine. Liaise with exploration and resource development staff in relation to near mine exploration and resource definition targets. Report to the Company executive team on mine geology activities as required. Identify, implement, and monitor business improvement opportunities. In addition, you will have: Bachelor's degree in Science, Geology, or Applied Geology or a similar field. Current "C" Class Western Australian driver's license. 4X4 wheel drive competency. Advanced computer literacy skills with strong Microsoft Office suite skills. Advanced knowledge of 3D geological modelling software, including: Leapfrog Geo, and Deswik. You possess an in-depth understanding of the underground mining environment and Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations. An advanced understanding of ore-forming processes and 3D modelling techniques. A solid background in data management and validation processes. Appropriate experience within the resources industry, ideally in project or senior roles. Track record working with mining processes in an underground environment. Exposure to base metal deposits. Proven track record in mining processes in an underground environment. ABRA LIFE FIFO 8:6 roster ex Perth or DIDO ex Meekatharra and surrounds. New camp, with a sports court and a fully equipped gym.
