Permanent full time position working Monday to Friday (day work) with occasional weekend shifts.Excellent benefits including salary packagingChallenging and rewarding work environmentOngoing training and development opportunitiesAbout the Role As a Medical Scientist in the Victorian Cancer Cytogenetic Service you will be required to perform a range of cytogenomic tests on patients with a haematological or solid tumour malignancy including processing and analysis of samples by chromosome analysis, FISH and microarray testing depending on classification.
The Medical Scientist is expected to contribute to the development of the department through training and education and research activities.
As a medical scientist, you will also be expected to expand your technical and analytical skills as our department expands into molecular techniques.
Please note, this position is open to both Medical Scientist Grade 1 and 2, dependent upon the candidate's level of experience. The classifications will range from:
Scientist Grade 1 Year 1 - 7, RX1 - RX7 ($62,426 - $89,986 per annum).
Scientist Grade 2 Year 1 - 4, RY4 - RY7 ($92,627 - $104,811 per annum). We provide a state funded, state-wide service to all of Victoria in the area of cancer cytogenomics. We process close to 5000 cases per year and routinely perform chromosome analysis, FISH and microarray testing. We also participate in national and International clinical trials and actively look to the future to help inform our practices.
