**About the opportunity**
NSW Health Pathology have the opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Wollongong Laboratory team in a permanent full time capacity. As a Medical Laboratory Technician you will be working along side Scientists and Clinical Microbiologists in a very popular, NATA accredited friendly and up to date advanced Laboratory
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Wollongong is located an hour's drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west.

**What you'll be doing**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the Microbiology department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
