About the role
The Manager - Risk Transformation & Strategy is responsible for delivering enhancements and development opportunities identified within AGL's Trading & Treasury Risk team. This role will focus on the development of technology and process improvements, playing a pivotal role in leading risk management practices across the business. This role will lead a team of Business and Reporting Analysts and have responsibility for coordinating changes for the TTR function through delivery of technical and non-technical initiatives.
This is a full-time position, on an 18 month max-term period.
What you'll be doing
Ensure delivery of Risk Transformation & Strategy project pipeline including managing IT stakeholders to achieve results.
Develop innovative solutions to ensure key strategic risk objectives are met.
Provide leadership to the Risk Transformation & Strategy analysts.
Lead the identification, prioritisation, and delivery of technology enhancements, while effectively balancing risk and commercial outcomes.
Coach, develop and assist the RT&S team. Problem solve and help the team overcome roadblocks.
Develop team communication skills and improve delivery cadence.
Implement a data strategy and develop a target state view of the architecture for the Trading & Treasury Risk team.
Provide TTR leaders with project prioritisation, planning and reporting.
Have a natural drive/ability to build a pipeline of key projects for TTR.
Be TTR's primary point of contact for projects/systems.
Promote automation of manual processes across TTR.
Work closely with internal/external application owners to ensure business requirements around contract deal capture, settlement and risk analysis capabilities and controls are met on an ongoing basis.
Refine and document key processes, identify and resolve control gaps.
What you'll bring to the table
Advanced knowledge of risk management frameworks and industry best practices (financial risk experience, highly desirable).
Advanced project management experience (technology delivery and strategy development, highly desirable).
Experience facilitating workshops to drive outcomes around risk management.
An ability to deliver complex initiatives in an agile environment.
Experience in delivering strategic long-term initiatives.
Tertiary qualification in a Quantitative, Finance, IT or Economics/Commerce related field.
A core knowledge of market, credit, and operational risk. Solid understanding of risk management framework, best practices and risk strategy.
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Copilot (or other generative AI tools), Microsoft PowerBI.
Experience working with one or more energy trading organisational functions such as trading (Forward, physical, origination), trading analytics, trading risk or trading finance is desirable.
Ability to develop in various coding languages (eg. Python, R, SQL, .Net) is desirable.
