Government - State (Government & Defence)As Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of professional officers within the Eligibility Assessment Team. Apply your critical thinking and sound decision-making skills to approve administrative decisions and provide guidance to staff in relation to employment screening decisions and regulatory matters, in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 and other relevant legislation and case law.Your key responsibilities:Lead, manage and mentor a team of professional officers within the Eligibility Assessment Team by providing strategic and operational direction, guidance, and advice ensuring the quality, consistency, and accuracy of assessments and regulatory matters are made in accordance with relevant legislation and Blue Card Services' objectives.Approve and document regulatory administrative decisions, consistent with the principles of natural justice, relevant legislation, policies, and delegated authority, ensuring they are evidence-based, defensible, and in the best interest of children and vulnerable people.Plan, organise, and manage the team's responsibilities to meet work outcomes, including the achievement and improvement of performance indicators.Foster a professional environment which encourages commitment, collaboration, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth, and continuous improvement.Provide expert advice, direction, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders in relation to assessments, review/appeal matters, and other regulatory matters, in relation to the governing and other relevant legislation and case law.Represent the team/program and/or Blue Card Services in interagency forums and committees and contribute to relevant departmental and whole of government groups in relation to the rights, interests, and wellbeing of children and young people in Queensland.Advise the Director, Screening Services on strategic policy and operational trends and issues in relation to the team's activities, that impact service delivery, output, and the integrity of the screening and eligibility assessment processes.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/592089/24Closing Date: Wednesday, 2 October 2024At the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG), we are dedicated to creating a safer, fairer, and more just Queensland.
