Details of the offer

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians.
We're focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research.
It's all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.
About the role: The Manager, Foodborne and Enteric Disease, will lead the prevention and control measures of foodborne and enteric diseases across the networked public health system through the provision and maintenance of a statewide system of policy, strategy, surveillance, and assurance and co-ordination activities.
Demonstrating relevant experience and expertise in public health, leadership, strategy development and delivery, plus finance and resource management and stakeholder engagement, this role is responsible for coordinating and developing public health control strategies that draw upon evidence and local intelligence to keep Victorians safe.
How you'll make a difference: Leading a multidisciplinary team across the networked public health system through the provision and maintenance of a statewide system of policy, strategy, surveillance, assurance and co-ordination measures.
Present authoritative, evidence-based advice on public health matters to management within the Department, external agencies and members of the public as required.
Prepare, review and present written and verbal reports, including the development of statewide strategies, policy, protocols and the preparation of briefing material.
Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
Pro-actively build and maintain positive relationships with local public health units and key external stakeholders that facilitate engagement and contribution.
Support statewide epidemiology, surveillance and intelligence services to monitor disease trends and evaluate interventions.
Work with teams to identify problems, vulnerabilities and risks in relation to communicable disease prevention and control activities, including making recommendations of innovative solutions, developing assurance strategies, and actively resolving problems as they arise.
Develop capability and best practice communicable diseases control through leadership, education, advocacy and support and develop excellence in the field through contributions to teaching and research and mentor peers.
What we offer: The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.
A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.
A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.
