About
the role
The Manager, Financial Accounting sits within the
Corporate Finance team which manages the finances of the Customer Service
Cluster. The Manager, Financial Accounting is responsible for managing the
financial accounting team and financial administration of business operations
to ensure the integrity of accounting records within the organisation that are
consistent with best practice including reporting, internal controls, control
frameworks and accounting standards, in relation to financial management to
meet financial obligations and ensure compliance.  

Key
accountabilities include:

Manage the agency’s interim and annual statutory financial statements in compliance with accounting standards, Treasury guidelines and contemporary accounting practices
Analyse, communicate and provide expert financial information, guidance and advice to senior management, project teams and business partners on financial accounting, contentious matters, the accounting impacts of major organisational activities and complex financial management issues to ensure compliance with financial and regulatory accounting requirements
Collaborate effectively with senior executives to ensure accounting financial aspects of divisional activities including process and practice are conducted in accordance with corporate, financial accounting, legal and regulatory policies, guidelines and requirements
Develop and implement appropriate policies, systems, processes and controls, providing expert technical interpretation of legislation, accounting policies and standards to ensure compliance with public sector accounting practices, statutory requirements, legislative and organisational policies, Treasury Directions and Audit Office requirementsDesign and develop the appropriate reporting formats, systems and schedules to enable the preparation of the agency’s interim and annual financial statements and statutory reportsImplement NSW Audit Office requirements and recommendations to ensure adequate internal controls with the business units and shared service providerManage the tax compliance and reporting across the cluster to ensure accuracy, probity, compliance and on time deliveryLead and drive team management, work planning, coaching and professional development initiatives to ensure they are engaged and competent to deliver services to meet organisational objectives and a positive employee experience
About
you

The
successful applicant will effectively manage interdependencies and balance
competing priorities in line with agreed timelines, targets and expected level
of quality to ensure organisational objectives are achieved. You will plan for and deal effectively with
peak workloads to ensure team meets deadlines while providing effective and
accurate financial services.
To
be successful in this role, you will be naturally inquisitive, and genuinely
passionate about better ways of working.You are a CPA or CA qualified finance
professional with substantial knowledge of management reporting, financial
modelling, financial management and accounting principles and practices. You
have sophisticated communication skills and proven leadership capabilities.
Above all, you have a proven track record of getting things done.You have demonstrated systems experience in finance systems
(e.g. TM1, Power BI, Prime).
