About The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for aManager, Energy Programs.This role is responsible for leading and managing the Remote Area Energy Supply (RAES) scheme and other subsidy schemes within Energy Programs branch including policy and planning, strategic development, quality and performance, and continuous improvement. The position also has a strong focus on:
Managing the financial, operational, reliability and safety performance of the program against budget and capital expenditure authorities
Managing specific South Australian and Australian Government funded energy subsidy programs.
Providing professional independent leadership and strategic management.
Developing complex and critical policy to ensure the provision of safe, reliable, cost effective and sustainable electricity to very remote communities in South Australia.
Working with other key stakeholders across Government to influence other departmental policies and programs to achieve reduced demand and ongoing sustainability of the RAES program.
Aligning the delivery of services to be consistent with the Department for Energy and Mining strategic objectives

Key Selection Criteria
Highly effective interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal, with proven ability to identify and respond informatively to the requirements of stakeholders, resolve conflict with tact and diplomacy and consult, liaise, negotiate with a broad range of people, internal and external to the Department at all levels.
Developed business cases for energy efficiency projects, including concepts, metering implementation and review
Ability to provide leadership, direction and supervision to facilitate a high performing team across multi-disciplinary staff
In depth technical knowledge of:
Different sources of electricity generation including diesel generators and renewables High (33kV) and Low voltage distribution networks and protection systems Extra low voltage controls systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control systems Various industrial and commercial Information Technology communication systems, data networks and storage
Qualifications
Essential: Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or related scientific field
Desirable: Additional qualifications in business or commercial related fields
Remuneration
PO5, $117,254 - $122,722 per annum
Full time ongoing role, working 37.5 hours per week
Special Conditions
Intra state and interstate travel with overnight absences may be required.
Current SA driver’s licence essential.
Ability to undertake training in and maintain 4WD safe driving, Remote Areas First Aid and CPR qualifications.
Will be required to drive 4WD vehicles on unsealed roads in variable weather conditions in very remote locations.
