About the roleThe work of Youth Justice Services is informed by the principles and functions outlined in the Young Offenders Act and the Department's Strategic Framework -.
Youth Justice Services is responsible for the safety, security and rehabilitation of young people in custody and those engaged with our services in the community. Our core objective is to reduce offending among young people through:
Services to divert young people away from the criminal justice system
Programs and services for young people on orders in the community
Programs and services in custody
The Manager Regional Youth Justice Services is responsible for the operational management of a community based centre/s where young people are referred to Juvenile Justice Teams and Court Conferencing, managed on community based orders, report for supervision and undertake community work.
The Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of staff and ensures young people are at the centre of all work practices within Youth Justice Services.
Experience working with young people and/or the youth justice system and/or Aboriginal people and communities will be highly regarded.

Eligibility to Apply:
Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
When working in a regional area there is a requirement for every Manager to be away from home for periods of time. You must be available for on call/out of hours duties as per the Award.
Travel may be required to be undertaken and there is a requirement for every Manager to drive vehicles (including WD) with manual transmissions and as such, a current manual driver's licence (class C) must be held when working across the State.
There may also be a requirement to travel via airplane including light aircraft.

All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
